RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State will honor its 1983 NCAA Championship team Saturday at the men’s basketball game between the Wolfpack and Clemson. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. at the RBCCenter.
As part of the celebration, the first 200 fans that purchase the Jim Valvano bobblehead package will be eligible to attend a one-hour autograph session from 1:30-2:30 p.m. with the returning members of the 1983 team.
Bobblehead packages, which include the Jimmy V bobblehead and a game program, will go on sale at 1 p.m. outside the South entrance of the RBCCenter (on the front lawn between arena and Carter-Finley Stadium) and will be limited to the first 200 fans. Price for the package is $25. Net proceeds will be donated to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Those fans will also receive a commemorative poster, provided by Coca-Cola, featuring every member of the “Cardiac Pack” and pre-signed by Wolfpack head coach Sidney Lowe.
Because of time constraints, the commemorative poster will be the only item signed by the championship team members. Unsigned versions of the commemorative poster will be available for all fans at every entrance of the arena.
GoPack.com managing editor Tim Peeler, author of “When March Went Mad: A Celebration of NC State’s 1983 National Championship,” will also be at the North concourse, near sections 112-113, signing his book from 1:30-3:00 p.m. The book can also be purchased at GoPack.com’s 25th Anniversary Store, at the GoPack Store at Raleigh’s Crabtree Valley Mall and other retail outlets. A portion of the royalties from retail sales will also go to the V Foundation.
Fans can also “Relive the Magic” of the 1983 season throughout the season on GoPack.com, with game stories, photos and other features about one of college basketball’s greatest Cinderella seasons.
