NC State men's tennis won its first match of the Blue/Gray Tennis Classic against No. 60 William & Mary on Friday in Montgomery, Ala. The #49 Wolfpack (7-6, 0-1 ACC) won the first four singles matches as the match ended, 4-0, after rain disrupted the tournament start times all day.

David Chermak was the first to win and get on the board, turning in a 6-3, 6-2, at No. 6 singles to even his record at 3-3 at No. 6 singles this season. When Chermak doesn't play No. 6, the Wolfpack is just 2-5 at that spot in the lineup.

Jay Weinacker ran his record to 9-3 on the season with a win at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1.

Derek Stephens made it No. 3 with his straight set win, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5 to even his record at 5-5.

Christian Welte improved his team-leading mark to 10-3 with the clinching win at No. 4 singles.

The Wolfpack will face #21 Alabama tomorrow at 10:15 eastern time in its third match of the tourney.
