No. 42 Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 3 Georgia Tech

The No. 42 NC State women’s tennis team fell to No. 3 Georgia Tech 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga. With the loss the Pack fall to 10-6 overall and an even 3-3 in the league while Georgia Tech improved to 12-5 and 4-1 in conference play.

The Wolfpack dropped the doubles point to begin the match after losing all three doubles matches. Catherine Grotz and Kristen Bleakley dropped their match at No. 3 doubles 8-0 as did Julia Roach and Lenka Hojckova at No. 2 doubles. Daria Petrovic and Berkley Brock lost at No. 1 doubles 8-4.

Berkley Brock lost to No. 6 Kristi Miller at No.1 singles 6-2, 6-0. No. 4 Amanda McDowell was able to defeat Daria Petrovic at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3. Lenka Hojckova lost at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-3 to No. 39 Whitney McCray to clinch the victory for the Yellow Jackets.

Neils Barringer lost at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-1 to No. 29 Maya Johansson. No. 107 Noelle Hickey defeated Catherine Grotz at No. 5 singles 6-0, 5-7, 1-0. Julia Roach lost at No. 4 singles in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0, to No. 32 Kirsten Flower.

The Wolfpack will travel to Clemson, S.C. tonight as they take on Clemson at noon tomorrow. Live stats for the match can be found here.
