No. 45 Women’s Tennis Drops Match to No. 28 Clemson

The No. 45 NC State women’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 28 Clemson on Sunday afternoon in Clemson, S.C. The Red and White are now 10-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play as Clemson improved to 8-9 on the year and 4-3 in the league.

The Pack dropped the doubles point to begin the match after losing all three matches. Daria Petrovic and Berkley Brock dropped their doubles match 8-3 against the No. 20 doubles team in the nation. Julia Roach and Lenka Hojckova also lost their match 8-3 and Catherine Grotz and Kristen Bleakley lost a tight match, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles.

Julia Roach lost her match at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 to Ina Hadziselimovic. Daria Petrovic lost to Estefania Balda at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1. Berkley Brock dropped her match, 6-4, 6-3, to the No. 2 player in the nation in Ani Mijacika to clinch the victory for the Tigers.

Carol Salge defeated Lenka Hojckova 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 singles to make it a 4-0 lead for Clemson. Catherine Grotz was defeated 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles by No. 124 Federica van Adrichem. Neils Barringer fell in the final match of the day to Alexandra Luc, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 6 singles..

The Pack will return to action on Thursday afternoon as they make the quick trip west to take on UNC in Chapel Hill, N.C. at 3 pm.
