Women's Golf Ties For 11th at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Julie Saleeby shot a final round even-par 72 to finish in the top-20 and the NC State women’s golf team tied for 11th at the conclusion of the Mercedes-Benz Women’s Collegiate Championship at Fox Den Country Club.

The Wolfpack shot a Sunday team score of +13 (301), its best showing of the weekend. For the 54-hole tournament, NC State finished at +46 (910). The field of 18 teams included 13 ranked in the top-50 nationally. The Wolfpack wound up tied with seventh-ranked LSU, while also finishing ahead of No. 9 Ohio State, No. 20 Tulane and 32nd-ranked Furman.

Saleeby recorded her second top-20 finish of the fall by placing in a tie for 20th after her even-par 72 today. She finished the tournament with a score of +8 (73-79-72=224), tying her career-low 54-hole score. She had a very steady round Sunday with three birdies and three bogeys.

Sophomore Meghan Chapman shot a four-over 76 to finish tied for 29th at +11 (76-75-76=227). The Seminole, Fla., native had 14 pars and four bogeys today.

Senior Emily Street shot a four-over 76 as well to tie for 46th +13 (76-77-76=229). Street had three birdies today, included two in a row at Nos. 17 and 18.

Junior Brooke Baker shot a five-over 77 to finish tied for 62nd at +17 (80-76-77=233). She struggled on her front nine with five bogeys, but played the back at even par and had a birdie at No. 1.

Senior Kathleen Strandberg shot a five-over 77 to finish tied for 73rd at +19 (77-81-77=235). She had a fairly steady go at it today with 14 pars, three bogeys and one double.

Host and 18th-ranked Tennessee (+4, 868) led wire-to-wire to win its own tournament by 19 strokes over runner-up Lousiville (+23, 887). The Cardinals’ Laura Anderson and the Lady Vols’ Nathalie Mansson tied atop the leaderboard at –3 (213).

The Pack’s fall schedule concludes with the Ross Resorts Invitational Oct. 26-27 at Mid Pines Country Club in Southern Pines, N.C.
