Hill, Pack Finish 5th at Hootie at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. – The NC State men’s golf team brought home a fifth place finish at the 2009 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate which wrapped up on Tuesday at Awendaw, S.C. NC State shot a two-under (282) in third round action, and finished the three rounds at two-under (285). The Pack, which came in ranked No. 16 according to golfstat.com, has now finished in the top-five in six of its eight tournaments this year.

Sophomore Matt Hill once again led the way for the Pack, as he finished in fifth place at four-under (209). Hill has now had a top-five finish in five of the eight tournaments this year. In Tuesday’s third round action, Hill shot a three-under (68), tying as the top round for the Pack at the tournament. His round featured an eagle on the par-five No. 2, two birdies, and only one hole over par.

Junior Brad Revell posted his top tournament score of his career, as he finished at one-under (212) and finished in 11th place. Revell came into the final round at even-par, and shot a one-under (70) in today’s final round. Revell holed an eagle on the par-four No. 9, and also had four birdies for the round.

Senior Andrew Byrd finished the three round tournament at two-over (215). Byrd came into the round at even-par, and shot a two-over (73) in the final round. He had three birdies on the day, all on the back-nine, and finished at two-under on the final nine holes.

Sophomore Brandon Detweiler also shot a two-over (73) in final round action. He holed a pair of birdies on the back-nine and was at even-par over the last nine holes. Detweiler finished the tournament at three-over (216).

Senior Darren Blair had his top round of the tournament in the final round, shooting an even-par (71) in the final round. Blair had a team high five birdies for the round, and finished the tournament at seven-over (220).

Augusta State took home the team title winning the even by eight strokes at 17-under (835). Janne Kaske took home individual medallist honors, winning by two strokes at 14-under (199).
