Stephanie Glance enters her 15th season on the NC State coaching staff in 2008-09. The Associate head coach/recruiting coordinator is in charge of the daily operations of the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball program.
Additionally, Glance works with post and perimeter player development, monitors the academic progress of the team, and oversees practice, game preparation, the scheduling coordinator and heads up the recruiting efforts for the Pack.
Glance has played a large role in bringing the program to unprecedented heights over the past 14 years. The numbers back it up with 11 NCAA appearances, four “Sweet 16” appearances and one Final Four berth since her arrival on campus in 1994.
The Wolfpack has compiled a 272-161 record with Glance on the sidelines and has averaged nearly 20 victories a season. Furthermore, the team has been ranked in the final top-25 poll seven times.
No doubt a nationally recognized recruiter, Glance’s recruiting classes have consistently ranked in the top-30 nationally since she landed in Raleigh, including eight in the top-20 and two classes in the top-five (1996 and 1999). Glance has landed three Junior College All-Americans and one National Junior College Player of the year for the Pack.
All Star Girls Report ranked the 2007-08 five-member class as the 19th best in the country. This class follows up the 2006-07 squad that was ranked 10th in the nation by ASGR, while the 2004-05 class was considered the 14th best recruiting class in the nation.
The 2006-07 season was certainly a unique one for the Wolfpack. Glance assumed all duties and responsibilities of head coach when legendary coach Kay Yow was forced to take a leave of absence after a reoccurrence of her battle with breast cancer. The program didn’t skip a beat while Glance took hold of the reigns for 16 games. Ultimately, the club gelled together and fought its way to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament and a No. 12 national ranking.
Academically, the women’s basketball team has owned the highest NCAA APR among all sports at NC State and consistently ranks among the top-three programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
A diligent motivator and teacher, Glance has developed a slew of players that have gone on to play professionally. Under her guidance, the Pack has had two first round draft selections, four second round and two third round draftees in the WNBA or ABL.
Glance has served on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) the last five years. She has been the elected representative to the Board of Directors for all Division I Assistant Coaches since 2003.
Glance honed her skills as the recruiting coordinator for both Southwest Texas State (1993-94) and the University of South Florida (1988-93). During these two stops, Glance administered the program budget, scheduled all games, scouted and prepared game plans among her laundry list of duties.
Glance served at USF under former Wolfpack standout Trudi Lacey.
