TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – NC State fell to Florida State, 10-1, in its regular season closer on Sunday, April 27. Alyssa Allbritten led the Pack with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.
The loss sends State to 29-26 (8-13 ACC), while FSU climbs to 36-23 (12-9 ACC).
Mendy McKenzie (12-9) took the defeat while Tiffany McDonald (16-9) picked up the decision.
Senior Day proved to be extremely motivational for the Seminoles as FSU jumped out the gate with four runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by a two-run jack off of Robin Ahrberg’s bat. Jessica Gilmore also scored Carly Wynn with a single up the middle, and later crossed the plate on an errant throw from right field following a Brittany Osmon base knock.
Florida State put up a five-spot with four hits and two Pack errors in the bottom of the second. Whitney Buckmon, Gilmore and Monica Montez all put up RBIs.
Kelly Langston made it 10-0 Seminoles with an RBI single through the left side in the bottom of the third.
Allbritten plated Shanna Smith with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.
The Pack will have next week off before heading to College Park, Md. for the ACC Championships, May 8-11.
