TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Sophomore Emily Pritt finished 13th in the individual standings Saturday and NC State’s women’s cross country team finished 13th in the team standings in the NCAA Pre-National Blue Race.
Pritt finished 29 seconds behind individual winner Jenny Barringer of Colorado, but that is a little misleading since Barringer beat runner-up Susan Kuijken of Florida State by a whopping 24 seconds. Pritt was just 5.4 seconds behind Kuijken in a tightly bunched group that came in well behind Barringer.
Senior Brittany Tinsley finished 47th, and freshman Jordan Jenkins was 86th.
Thanks to Barringer and Allie McLaughlin, who finished 10th, Colorado, ranked 19th in the lastest USTFCCCCA national poll, coasted to a 41-point victory over runnerup and 11th-ranked Florida State, 94 points to 135. Fourth-ranked Oregon was third (169 points), followed by No. 13 Georgetown (200), No. 6 Stanford (206), Arizona (225), No. 7 Iowa State (231), No. 29 Iowa (283), UTEP (284), and No. 24 Michigan State (302). NC State finshed with a team score of 411.
