COLUMBIA, S.C. – Righthanded pitcher Andrew Brackman is not on NC State’s 25-man roster for the Columbia, S.C., Regional and will not pitch this weekend for the Wolfpack.

Brackman, who has been sidelined since mid-May with mild inflammation in his right elbow, threw a brief bullpen session at Doak Field at Dail Park on Wednesday before the NC State team left for Columbia. He still experienced discomfort with the elbow, and head coach Elliott Avent decided that Brackman would be best served by not pitching this weekend.

“After Andrew experienced continued discomfort in his elbow during yesterday’s bullpen session, I made the decision not to jeopardize his future by trying to pitch in this weekend’s regional,” Avent said. “We would love to have him available this weekend, but I just don’t believe it would be in his best interests. If we advance, we certainly hope to have Andrew available for the Super Regional next weekend and beyond.”

Brackman, who is 6-4 with a 3.81 ERA, made his last appearance May 12 at Virginia.
