RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State quarterback Russell Wilson followed his selection as first-team All-ACC quarterback by being named the league’s offensive and overall rookie of the year today, as voted on by the league’s media organization. With Wilson’s selection, NC State now leads the ACC in rookie of the year selections with nine - three more than any other school. Wilson joins former Pack standout and ACC record-holder Philip Rivers as the only quarterbacks ever to win the honor for NC State and he is only the sixth QB in conference history to win the award.
Wilson will attend the league’s honors banquet in Tampa on Friday. He was invited to spend the weekend partaking in the festivities surrounding the ACC title game, but opted out so he won’t miss any practice time.
