The NC State men's tennis team took another close loss at the hands of a ranked opponent, dropping its contest with No. 21 Alabama, 4-3, on the third day of the Blue Gray Tennis Classic. The No. 49 Wolfpack (7-7, 0-1 ACC) has now lost three of its last four contests, with all three coming in 4-3 decisions.
The Pack lost the doubles point, falling at No. 1, 8-6, and No. 3, 8-2, early in the match.
In singles, No. 104 James McGee defeated #94 Myneni at No. 1 singles for one of the Wolfpack three team points.
Nick Cavaday won at No. 3, 6-0, 6-4, and Christian Welte improved to a team-best 11-3 with his win at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
The match was decided at No. 5 singles, however, with Derek Stephens losing a close three-set marathon, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4, as the Crimson Tide held on.
