Men's Track and Field Led by Adams, Jones at Tar Heel Invite

NC State men's track and field continued the indoor season on Saturday in Chapel Hill at the Joe Hilton Tar Heel Invitational. Dexter Adams and Jason Jones both turned in impressive individual performances with each winning and event.

Adams, the defending ACC champion, continued to impress in the long jump after posting a jump of 23'10.00" to take first place.

Jones, a regional qualifier last season, won the weight throw with a career-best mark of 54'08.00" and finished second in the shot put with another career high of 55'03.75".

Sophomore Adam Gray finished third in the weight throw with a distance of 50'05.50" in a solid early season performance.

Sprinter A'Tolani Akinkuotu turned in a third place performance in the preliminaries, as well as the finals. He ran a 6.77 in the prelims, narrowly missing a provisional qualifying mark of 6.74. In the finals, Akinkuotu against finished third, this time with a 6.78.

NC State track and field will return to action in split squad competition at Clemson and North Carolina next weekend.
