WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – NC State fell to Wake Forest, 3-0 (30-18, 30-14, 30-22) on Friday, Nov. 16, in Winston-Salem, N.C. The loss sends the Pack to 3-26 (0-19 ACC) on the year, while the Demon Deacons improve to 8-21 (5-15 ACC).
Lauren Zaniboni led the Wolfpack offense with seven kills, while Ashley Wallace followed closely behind with six kills and a team-best five blocks. Alex Smith recorded 23 assists and 12 digs, while Lindsay Benac, Nikki Sweet and Chrissy Zirpolo each added 10 digs. State failed to land a service ace throughout play.
Natalie Mullikin (11) and Michael Faulkiner (10), combined for 21 of the Deacs 45 kills, and Kelsey Jones lifted 37 assists. Megan Thornberry had a team-high 16 digs, while Faulkner and Jones each contributed 14. Mary-Margaret Langston scored four service aces, and Faulkner, the lone Wake Forest senior who was recognized pre-match during senior night festivities, completed her big night with three aces of her own.
WFU out-hit NC State .197 to .015.
NC State will take on Duke tomorrow night, Saturday, Nov. 17, in Durham at 7 p.m.
