She came to NC State after working as a graduate teaching assistant position in Auburn's nutrition sciences lab.
"Kate is a smart, competent, clinically-inclined Sports RD who helped further develop our sports nutrition program here at Auburn," said Joe Perrone, director of sports medicine at Auburn. "She will be an asset to NC State athletics and the Raleigh community at large."
Her experience also includes working with Forte Food & Fitness, where she was the performance dietitian and served as a fitness instructor. She was also a registered dietitian at the Mobile (Ala.) County Health Department.
Kirby received her undergraduate degree in nutrition and food science from Auburn in 2008 and her master's degree in sports nutrition from AU in 2012.
