Mark Kimmel begins his seventh year as an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at NC State during the 2012-13 school year. Kimmel currently serves as the primary media contact for the Wolfpack women's basketball, women's soccer and men's golf programs.
Kimmel is a member of the GoPack.com website committee, and plays a significant role in the social media efforts of the athletic department. NC State utilizes the likes of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest to engage its fan base that makes up Wolfpack nation.
He was the women's golf contact from 2006-10 before taking over men's golf duties for the 2010-11 campaign.
Kimmel arrived in Raleigh after spending two years at UNC Greensboro as the Assistant Sports Information Director. During his time with the Spartans, Kimmel worked extensively with the women's basketball, women's volleyball and softball programs, while having a hand in each of the 16 sports within the UNCG athletic department.
A 2001 graduate of St. Bonaventure University with a degree in journalism and mass communications, Kimmel spent time as the first full-time Assistant Sports Information Director at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., during the 2003-04 school year.
Prior to that, Kimmel was a Media Relations intern at the University of Delaware, where he was the primary contact for the baseball, men's soccer and women's soccer programs.
A native of Hilton, N.Y., Kimmel began his career in the Sports Information field as an intern at Saint Rose during the 2001-02 school year.
Kimmel and his wife Michele are the parents of two boys, Andrew and Bryson.
