He oversees the day-to-day operations of Wolfpack football, women's basketball, and men's and women's tennis. Additional areas of supervision include personnel and legal matters for athletics, facilities and operations, championships and special events, and equipment.

Lipitz recently spearheaded the creation of the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame, including the ESPN-televised inaugural induction gala at Reynolds Coliseum on Oct. 6, 2012. He currently chairs the Reynolds Coliseum Renovation Building Committee which is undertaking a multi-million dollar renovation of the historic arena, including the new NC State Athletic Walk of Fame & History. He is also on-point for the Wolfpack's Indoor Practice Facility project for football, track and field, and other field sports.

Lipitz also serves as the department's liaison with campus administration, the University's Office of General Counsel, Board of Trustees and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) administration. He is a member of the AthleticsCabinet, Senior Staff and Budget Committee, and participates in financial and capital planning deliberations.

Prior to NC State, Lipitz served five years as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Varsity Sports at the University of Maryland. As the Terrapins' primary sport supervisor, he oversaw women's basketball, men's lacrosse, field hockey, volleyball, gymnastics, and men's and women's swimming and diving. Lipitz served as liaison to the University's Legal Office, its Office of Student Conduct, and the M Club letter winners organization. He also chaired the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame Election Committee.

Lipitz served as Chief Operating Officer of the Orange Bowl Committee for the 2007 FedEx Orange Bowl featuring Louisville and Wake Forest in Miami, Florida. He oversaw day-to-day operations for the not-for-profit organization, including the FedEx Orange Bowl, Orange Bowl Festival, and a variety of Orange Bowl Youth Sports initiatives.

From 1999 through 2006, Lipitz worked for Maryland Athletics in a senior management role involving internal and external operations. As Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration, he supervised the Terps' marketing, licensing, ticketing and video units, as well as the wrestling and women's golf programs. Lipitz managed Maryland's relationship with its marketing rights holder, Terrapin Sports Marketing, and its football fundraising organization, the Maryland Gridiron Network. He also negotiated and managed Maryland's all-sport apparel deal with Under Armour, and the school's television and radio, multimedia and personnel contracts.

A native of Millville, N.J., Lipitz graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in political science. He was a four-year starter and two-year co-captain on the men's tennis team and won the Geary F. Eppley Award as the graduating male student-athlete with the highest scholastic average. Lipitz then earned his law degree from Villanova University where he specialized in domestic relations.

He and his wife, Kerry, are the parents of two sons, Henry and Charlie.
