Doug Strom, who joined NC State Athletics in February 2011, oversees Reynolds Coliseum, the Wolfpack men's and women's cross country, rifle, softball, and men's and women's track & field.
Strom came to NC State from Southern Methodist University, where he served as Director of Facilities and Operations since 2009. He oversaw all facilities, capital projects, and was the head of operations for all collegiate sporting and outside events. Strom was instrumental in many ongoing projects at SMU. He was the point for football locker room renovations, scoreboard, auditorium, field turf and the renovation to a new academic support area.
Strom served 25 years in the United States Army and retired 2009. He spent his last eight years at West Point. Four years of that time he was the Athletic Department Operations NCO where he was responsible for game day operations with additional duties of summer assignments for all athletes, individual and team awards and also was the Athletics liaison to the Corps of Cadets.
Prior to this he spent four years as a Tactical Non-Commissioned Officer for a company of cadets where he was a primary mentor of 130 future Army Officers. He also did tours of duty in Korea, California, Germany, Kuwait, Georgia, Illinois, and Colorado.
A native of Sherburn, Minn., Strom graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas in Rockland County New York with a degree in history. He and his wife, Michelle, have three children: Drew, Darren and Adrienne.
