Tonya Washington has served the NC State Department of Athletics for 13 years. She was named Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development /Community Relations after serving for three years as the Director of Student-Athlete Development for the Wolfpack.
Washington's responsibilities include directing the ImPACK program, which includes the career and personal development and community outreach programs for student-athletes. She also oversees the Department's letterwinner program, and is responsible for the charity ticket and charitable donations program for schools and non-profit organizations. She also coordinates leadership development programs for student-athletes and serves as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The Greenwood, S.C. native, began her tenure at NC State in 1996 as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development. She was promoted to director in 1999. Washington earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1989 and her master's in public administration in 1992. She worked at UNC-Wilmington as Director of Leadership Programs prior to coming to NC State.
Washington has a son, Drew and a daughter, Briana.
