    Maria Tyson enters her sixth year with NC State as an Assistant Director for Academic Support. Tyson joined the NC State Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (ASPSA) after spending more than two years as an athletic academic counselor for the University of Memphis.

    Her extensive background in athletic academic support also includes two years with the University of Florida, as well as additional training with the NCAA. Tyson earned her undergraduate degree in arts in communication with a minor in psychology from UNC Greensboro and continued her masters work in education at the University of Florida. She is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics.
