Dave Slade - Baseball Play by Play
Dave Slade handles many of the play-by-play duties for the Wolfpack Sports Network's baseball broadcasts. Prior to assuming that role, Slade was the Public Address Announcer at Doak Field at Dail Park for 5 years.
Since 2002, Slade has also provided members of the media with game and statistical information as the In-House PA announcer for the Carter-Finley Stadium press area. Slade has held many other public address announcer roles including the Carolina Mudcats, high school baseball championships, local high school football and basketball games, and selected NC State softball games.
Slade served as the Sports Anchor for the North Carolina News Network from 2001-2002. He also had the distinction of serving as the technical advisor for the radio studio scene in the movie Bull Durham. Slade coordinated and anchored coverage of the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid for a twelve-station radio network while serving as the Sports Director for WHAM in Rochester. Slade has also handled play-by-play duties for various minor league baseball teams including the Oneonta Yankees, Rochester Red Wings, and Durham Bulls.
Slade is a native of Avon, New York and received a BA in Speech Communications from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Slade and his wife Lois reside in Durham.
