Patrick Kinas - Women's Basketball Play by Play
Patrick Kinas enters his ninth season as the play-by-play voice of the NC State Wolfpack women's team, and is currently in his 16th season broadcasting minor league baseball, including his 10th for the Carolina Mudcats, the Double-A affiliate of the Florida Marlins.
Kinas began his pro career in Clinton, Iowa, as the broadcaster for the Clinton LumberKings in 1993, before moving to the Kane County (IL) Cougars in suburban Chicago in 1997-98. Kinas moved to the Mudcats just before the start of the 1999 season. He served as the play-by-play broadcaster in football and men's basketball at Elon University from 1999-2001, prior to his time with the Wolfpack.
In 2001, Kinas coordinated Mudcats For America, a fundraiser which raised over $5,000 for the September 11th Fund. Kinas raised the funds by setting a Guinness World Record for marathon bowling, lasting 34 hours and 23 minutes at Buffalo Lanes in Cary, NC.
Kinas has also done various television work for Comcast Sports South and SportsChannel Chicago, and held internships at WGN-AM, Chicago, WSCR-AM, Chicago and WAND-TV, Decatur, IL.
Kinas grew up in Pontiac, IL, earning a Communication/Business Administration degree from Millikin University in Decatur, IL, then picked up his Master's Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL in 1994. While at Millikin, Kinas became the winningest tennis player in both singles and doubles in school history, earning MVP honors while playing at the #1 singles and doubles position. Kinas graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1988, where he was student body president, Homecoming King and the school's #1 varsity tennis player all four seasons, earning three MVP awards.
Kinas lives in Raleigh where his is still a highly active tennis player, bowler and golfer.
