Five-star recruits Anna Rogers and Adriana Reami signed with the women's tennis team in the early signing period
RALEIGH – The NC State women's tennis team added two standout players to the program in the early signing period, as announced by coach Simon Earnshaw.
Â
Anna Rogers and Adriana Reami will join the Wolfpack prior to the start of the 2016-17 season. Both student-athletes are five-star recruits with accomplished junior careers.
Â
Anna Rogers
Stamford, Conn.
"I'm extremely excited to be attending and playing tennis for NC State next fall. The coaching staff is incredible and I believe it will soon become a top-ranked program. Coach Earnshaw has won nine NCAA Division II championships with his previous team so I'm glad that he has a ton of success and experience. Coach Suarez-Malaguti played for one of the highest-ranked and most successful programs in women's tennis. She competed for an NCAA Division I team title and advanced deep in the NCAA singles tournament. I look forward to pursuing my tennis and academic careers at NC State next year." – Anna RogersÂ
Â
SIMON SAYS:
"About a year ago a good friend of mine persuaded me to look at Anna and I'm extremely grateful that I did. Gina and I were instantly taken with Anna's passion for tennis and her character. Her growth over the past 12 months has been a pleasure to watch and I'm very confident that there is much more to come which is why Anna is the perfect fit for our young team and our developing program. Anna's attitude and enthusiasm are incredibly infectious, she brings out the best in everyone that she is around and will immediately be an impact player in both singles and doubles. I feel very fortunate that Anna and her family chose NC State and can't wait to see her represent the Wolfpack starting next fall." – Simon Earnshaw, head coach
Â
Adriana Reami
Miami, Fla.
"I chose NC State because I believe that it will not only challenge my abilities on the tennis court, but in the classroom as well while helping me reach my full potential to be successful in any career I choose. I'm really excited and I can't wait for next year to come so I can start with the team." – Adriana Reami
Â
"Adriana was one of the first 2016 recruits we targeted back in the summer of 2014. I have to give a lot of credit to Gina in taking the lead with Adriana's recruitment. Adriana comes from a great tennis background. In the 1980's her mom reached the women's doubles finals at the French Open. She's a very thoughtful and calculated player but at the same time has great instincts and experience. The two USTA National Doubles Championships that Adriana won in 2014 show that she can be successful in big matches which will help her to hit the ground running in the ACC. Everything that we look for in a player Adriana has already and it's going to be great working with her to maximize her game and see the growth on and off the court. The whole program is extremely excited to welcome Adriana to the family and to be a member of the Pack!" – Simon Earnshaw, head coach
