Frazier Wins USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week Honors

Frazier shattered WakeMed’s 5k-course record with a time of 16:06.4

NEW ORLEANS - Freshman Ryen Frazier was named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league offices on Monday. Frazier dominated the women's 5k run at the adidas XC Challenge, breaking the course record and winning her debut race in 16:06.4.
After trailing her sister, Wesley, for the opening 2,000m, Ryen broke away over the final 3,000m to cross the finish line 22 seconds ahead of second-place Wesley and 59 seconds ahead of third-place runner Rachel Koon.
Ryen's score helped lead the NC State women's team to a first-place finish in its opening race of the year. The Wolfpack scored 19 points and beat out 17 other teams for the win.
The team will be back in action on Oct. 2nd at the Notre Dame Invitational. Last year, the Wolfpack women took second in the meet.
