RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer program is welcoming three new additions to its roster, head coach Tim Santoro announced Thursday. Daria Draovitch, Paige Griffiths, and Carrie Lewis have joined the program and are immediately eligible to train with the team.
"Having these three players arrive a semester early is exciting for us and them," NC State head coach Tim Santoro said. "They get acclimated to all aspects of being a student-athlete: academic, athletic, and social. From the spring games on our schedule, training, and strength and conditioning sessions, they will be much further along when preseason arrives in August.
"Daria brings tremendous athleticism and versatility from a position standpoint while Paige and Carrie are both very clean, technical midfield players. I can't wait to start working with them."
Daria Draovitch | D | Raleigh, N.C. | 97 CASL ECNL
A 5'7 defender, Daria Draovitch joins the Wolfpack from 97 CASL ECNL. A five-year member of the North Carolina State Olympic Development Program's (ODP) first team, Draovitch has experienced success with her club side, qualifying to compete in back-to-back ECNL National Championships.
Playing high school soccer for Athens Drive, Draovitch was her team's Defensive MVP in addition to earning All-Conference honors for both her play on the field and her grades in the classroom.
Paige Griffiths | M | Wake Forest, N.C. | 97 CASL ECNL
Paige Griffiths also joins the Wolfpack from 97 CASL ECNL, her club for the last six years. During her club career, Griffiths helped lead her side to four straight playoff appearances from 2011-14.
A native of nearby Wake Forest, Griffiths has extensive ODP experience from playing with NC '98 from 2011-13. She participated in Region 3 ODP Camp (2011, 2012) in Montevallo, Alabama, and took part in National Training Camp (2013) in Phoenix.
Paige played high school soccer for Millbrook HS in 2013 and 2014, earning Cap 8 All-Conference Team honors in 2014.
Carrie Lewis | M | Charlotte, N.C. | Charlotte Soccer Academy
Carrie Lewis joins the Wolfpack from Charlotte Soccer Academy, a club which she helped lead to ECNL Nationals in 2013 and 2012 and a state championship in 2010. She earned ODP experience from 2007-09.
While playing high school soccer for Charlotte Country Day School, Carrie was a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and volunteered as a peer counselor.
NC State opens the spring season on Saturday, March 19 against Wingate at the Wolfpack Training Complex in Raleigh. The Wolfpack will host two home contests and play twice on the road during the spring season, which spans from March 19 – April 23.
