Henes, Parsons Receive Weekly ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Two from the NC State cross country team have received weekly honors, as announced by the conference offices on Tuesday.
After a strong season debut at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, Sam Parsons has been award men's Performer of the Week. Parsons finished second-place in the five mile race, stopping the clock in 23:34.9. The Newark, Delaware, native finished 16 seconds ahead of the third-place scorer, and just three seconds behind the race's winner. Parsons led the Wolfpack to an 11th-place finish in a 25-team field that included six ranked squads.
Elly Henes has been awarded the ACC Freshmen of the Week after a personal best performance at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. Competing in her first race for the Wolfpack, Henes finished 44th individually in a talented 23-team field last weekend. The Cary, North Carolina product finished the 5k course in 17:04.1.
Both are expected to be back in action for the Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 14th.
