GREENSBORO, N.C., - Joshua Davis of NC State's track and field team was named the ACC Men's Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Davis recorded a pair of second-place finishes in weight throw competitions last weekend. He opened the weekend with a toss of 66-3.25 (20.20m) in the Virginia Tech challenge before throwing the second-best mark in his career at the Kent Taylor Invite. The redshirt-sophomore finished as the top collegiate athlete and second overall with a throw of 68-3.75, marking just the second time in his career that he has cracked the 68-foot mark. Davis' throw at the Kent Taylor Invite would rank 27th in the nation if he did not already own the NCAA's 24th-best toss.
This season Davis has broken the weight throw school record and improved on his PR from last season by more than five feet.
He will be back in action at the ACC Indoor Championships Thursday night. Davis enters the event as the fourth seed.
