Seven with @PackWrestle ties earn All-American honors at University Nationals

AKRON, OHIO - Four-time All-American Nick Gwiazdowski (125 kg) and current Wolfpack assistant Adam Hall (70 kg) both won their weight classes at the University Nationals this weekend, and have now advanaced to compete for the U.S. at the University World Championships in Corum, Turkey October 25-30.
Overall this past weekend, seven wrestlers with ties to NC State earned All-American honors at the University Nationals held at Akron - one in Greco and six in Freestyle.
Gwiazdowski breezed his way into the best-of-three finals at 125 kg with five tech fall wins, outscoring his opponents 52-2 to reach the finals. In the finals, Gwiazdowski defeated Arizona State's Tanner Hall 3-1 and then 4-1 to win medalist honors.
"I've worked on a lot of things (since Olympic Trials) and my coaches have helped me a lot," said Gwiazdowski. "I've pushed myself in different ways, so it feels good to win this. It's been a while."
Hall dominated the field at 70 kg, going a perfect 7-0. He won those seven matches by a combined score of 74-1 over the course of the tournament, all tech fall wins. This includes 11-0 and 10-0 tech fall wins over 2016 NCAA finalist Brandon Sorensen in the championship series.
2016 All-American Tommy Gantt placed third at 74 kg, going 6-1 with four tech fall wins.
A pair of returning NC State grapplers also brought home All-American honors in Freestyle. Senior Pete Renda was fourth at 86 kg, while junior Kevin Jack was fifth at 65 kg.
In addition, former two-time NCAA Qualifier at NC State (2014-15), Joe DeAngelo, also earned All-American honors, as he placed fourth at 57 kg.
In Greco action this weekend, redshirt-senior Lee Davis earned All-American honors with a fifth place finish at 80 kg. After a bye to start, Davis scored an 11-3 tech fall and a 4-3 decision to move into the semifinals. Davis fell in the semifinals and in his first bout in the consolation bracket, but came back to earn a 6-1 win in his final bout to place fifth in Greco.
