RIO de JANEIRO- Junior Anton Ipsen of the NC State men's swimming and diving team made his Olympic Games debut on Saturday afternoon in the 400m freestyle in Rio de Janeiro.
Held inside the Olympics Aquatics Stadium, the Birkerod, Denmark native, posted a personal-best time of 3:48.31 to finish 20th of 50 competitors among the event standings.Â
Ipsen is slated to also compete in the men's 1500m free, as the prelims will be held Aug. 12 at 12 p.m. ET and finals will commence at 9 p.m. ET Aug. 13.
Ryan Held is the next from the Wolfpack to compete in Rio, as he will swim for Team USA in the 4x100m freestyle relay Sunday. Prelims are set for a 12 p.m. ET start and finals are slated for a 9 p.m. ET start.Â
The swimming portion of the Olympic Games will run on television from Aug. 6-13 and be broadcast via NBC. On most days, NBC primetime programming will air from 8 p.m. to midnight ET/PT; daytime from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET/PT; late night from 12:35 a.m. to 1:35 a.m. ET/PT; and replays from 1:35 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. ET/PT.
