RALEIGH – The NC State men's soccer team (6-4-3, 2-3-1 ACC) picked up its third quality Atlantic Coast Conference result of the season Friday evening at Dail Soccer Stadium by earning a 0-0 draw with visiting No. 10/6 Virginia.
Friday's match was NC State's annual Alumni Night, with a few dozen former players coming back to campus for a pregame tailgate and halftime recognition.

The Wolfpack played a very even match against the Cavaliers, generating just one fewer shot (9-10) and earning the same number of corners (4-4). NC State's defense proved strong throughout the contest, absorbing Virginia's pressure without yielding too many quality scoring chances. Freshman goalkeeper Leon Krapf made four saves throughout the course of the match.
One of the best chances for either team came in the 26th minute when Tanner Roberts got his head on a Jan-Luca Ahillen corner and nodded it just wide of the target. Freshman David Loera then had a good opportunity in the 40th minute when he attempted a long-range effort from 25 yards that went wide of the right post.
Virginia had a very good scoring chance in the 94th minute when a Cavalier found Robin Afamefuna streaking toward the far post. He was slowed by a Wolfpack defender, but remained able to redirect the cross on target. Krapf made a diving save to preserve the 0-0 scoreline.
NC State returns to action at home on Tuesday, Oct. 17 when No. 15/14 UNCW comes to town. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Seahawks is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.
