Final NWCA/USA Today Coaches' Poll
RALEIGH, N.C. - For the second straight season, the NC State wrestling team finishes the regular season ranked in the top-10 in the final NWCA/USA Today Coaches' Poll. With a final dual record of 13-2 during the 2016-17 season, the Wolfpack finishes ranked No. 8 nationally.
In all 15 NWCA/USA Today Coaches' Polls this season, the Wolfpack was ranked in the top-10. Last week, NC State was No. 7 before its defeat of Michigan in the NWCA National Duals. The Pack was No. 8 the three previous weeks, and spent seven weeks at No. 9 and three weeks at No. 10 earlier this season.
This past weekend, the Pack defeated #16 Michigan 23-15 in the NWCA National Duals, becoming one of only three schools to win their matches each of the last two years in the event.
The Pack also finished 4-1 in ACC duals for the second straight season.
Last season, NC State was ranked second in the final coaches' poll after its win at then No. 2 Iowa in the NWCA National Duals. With last year's 23-1 mark, NC State has won 35 of its 38 duals over the last two seasons. The Pack's lone losses have been to No. 8 Virginia Tech (19-14) last season, and No. 7 Nebraska (22-10) and No. 5 Virginia Tech (20-14) this season.
Up Next: The Wolfpack will defend its ACC title, as NC State will host the 2017 ACC Championship on March 4 in Reynolds Coliseum. The action begins at 11 a.m., with the finals slated to start at 7 p.m.
