
NC State Concludes Weekend at Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The NC State track and field team wrapped up the weekend with two event tiles and a new school record at the Gamecock Invitational. NC State's throwers, sprinters and jumped all participated in the meet.
Throws:
Lauren Evans won her second hammer throw event in as many meets, throwing to a school record 190'7" in the victory. Evans has set a personal best twice this season, moving from fourth to first in school history since the start of the 2017 season. The mark is currently ranked 28th in the East and sixth in the ACC. Evans moved past Lawanda Henry to claim the school record. Henry owned the previous record since 2009 with a mark of 188'3".
In the men's hammer throw, Joshua Davis nearly hit his personal best with a throw of 214'1" to finish second overall and first among college athletes. Davis, who reset his school record earlier this season, is currently ranked 13th in the East and third in the ACC in the event.
In the women's shot put, Alyssa Dunn took second overall and first among college athletes with a throw of 47'7.25". Lauren Evans added a third-place finish with a mark of 46'1.50".
Jumps:
Christopher Garrick led the Wolfpack jumpers, finishing fourth overall in the high jump with a mark of 6'11.00". JaTory "JT" Reid added a huge season best, finishing fifth overall with a jump of 6'9.75", marking the highest cleared bar of his collegiate career. Kris Kornegay-Gober won the event after clearing 7'1.50", while competing unattached.
In the women's triple jump, Javonne Antoine took fourth overall with a jump of 40'4.25" and Amara Bell finished fifth with a leap of 39'8.50".
Sprints/Hurdles:
Gabriele Cunningham led the Pack with three personal bests and an event win on the day. She added the Pack's second event win of the meet, with a victory in the 100m dash, crossing the finish line in a wind legal 11.50 to earn a new personal best. She also took fifth in the 200m dash with a wind-legal PR of 23.85, marking the second-straight week with a personal best in the event.
Cunningham also ran a lifetime best in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a wind-aided 13.62 to finish eighth overall in a field crowed with elite professional talent.
Alexis Perry competed unattached in the 100m hurdles and crossed the finish line in 13.20 to finish fourth overall.
In the 200m, Paisley Simmons finished tied for fifth in the 200m with Cunningham on her season debut in the event.
On the men's side, Cravont Charleston finished fourth overall in the 100m, with a wind-legal time of 10.38. Charleston also added a time of 21.44 in the 200m, finishing 15th overall.
Nyheim Hines opened his season with a ninth-place finish in the 100m, crossing the finish line in 10.57, and Dylan Peebles took 12th in the event with a time of 10.63. Peebles also added a 200m season best of 21.46.
The 4x100 relay team of Hines, Peebles, Charleston, and Junpai Dowdy took third with a season-high mark of 39.77.
Mid-Distance:
Abdur Rahmaan Kelly set a personal best for the fourth-straight weekend, taking third overall in the 800m with a time of 1:50.43. The time moves Kelly from sixth to third in school history and is now less than 0.50 from the Pack's historic 800m school record.
