
Pack Finishes Day 1 at Historic Penn Relays

Elly Henes highlighted the first day of action for the Wolfpack at the historic Penn Relays Carnival in Philadelphia on Thursday. The freshman from Cary ran a personal best of 9:24.93 to finish second in a field of 43 in the women's 3,000m.
On the men's side, RS-senior Audrey Myjer also posted a personal best of 8:56.88 to finish fourth in the men's 3000m steeplechase. That was the best mark for the Wolfpack in that event this season.
Alyssa Dunn also turned in a top-five finish for NC State, finishing fifth in the college division shot put with a throw of 14.55 (47-9). She posted her second-best mark of the season in the women's college discus, throwing 44.37 (145-6) to finish 15th. Sophomore Lauren Evans turned in a 53.56 (175-8) in the hammer throw to finish 13th, while her 13.11m (43-0.25) in the shot put was good enough for 28th.
On Thursday afternoon, senior Amara Bell and junior Javonne Antoine competed in the college long jump, finishing 13th and 21st respectively. Bell's jump measured 5.60 (18-4.5) while Antoine jumped a 5.44 (17-10.25) distance.
In the evening events, RS-junior Bethany Neeley posted a personal best in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a 23rd-place run of 10:41.91. Rachel Bartolomeo was 33rd with a 10.55.93.
Sophomore Philip Hall finished out the day's competition with a 37th-place finish in the 5000m, turning in a time of 14:42.03.
The Wolfpack will be back in action tomorrow, competing in the men's discus, high jump, 100m, 4x100, and sprint medley relays and the women's trip jump, 100m and 100m hurdles.
