
Three Finish with Double Digit Kills as Pack Falls to #5 Stanford in Four Sets

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team (10-11, 3-8) took a set from fifth-ranked Stanford (19-3, 10-1 but fell to the Cardinal, 3-1, Friday evening at Reynolds Coliseum.
The match was a back-and-forth battle throughout the first two sets, but it was Stanford who took the opening frame, 25-21.
The Wolfpack didn't back down and battled in the second to take the lead, 20-17, forcing a Stanford timeout. The Pack continued to dominate and took the second frame, 25-21.
Senior Courtney Bryant, as well as freshman Jordan Smith and Rebecca Ring combined for 15 kills in the second frame, to lead all scorers with five each.
The beginning of the third set set was an exchanging of points between the two teams, but the Cardinal took a three-point lead (10-7) that the Pack was unable to overcome. Stanford would go on to take the third set 25-18.
NC State struggled in the final frame, as the Cardinal would go on a 17-7 scoring run to to lead 22-10. Stanford capitalized on errors by the Pack's offense and would take the final set, 25-12.
Smith led the Pack with 13 kills as Bryant and Ring each added 12. Freshman middle blocker Talia Francom tallied nine blocks to lead the defensive efforts.
The Wolfpack returns to Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, November 2 to host Cal at 1pm on ACCNX.
