    Eligibility to Tryout
In order to participate in tryouts you MUST:

    • Have been accepted as a full time student at NC State (12 hours for undergraduate students or 9 hours for graduate students). During the semester you will need to maintain full time status and be in good academic standing.
    • Pay $25 registration fee, due on the first day of tryouts.
    • Bring the following completed information on the FIRST DAY of tryouts.
      1) A copy of a Sports Physical dated within the last six months. If you have not had a Sports Physical within the last six months there is a form attached that can be completed by a physician. You can take the form to Student Health Services but you MUST make an appointment first. There will be a charge for the physical at Student Health Services and you will be responsible for any and all charges associated with the physical.

      2) You must complete the Liability Waiver that is attached. If you are under 18 your parent/guardian MUST sign the form also. If they are out of town they can fax the signed form to the Sports Medicine Office Fax # 919-515-6056.

      3) You MUST provide us with a result of a sickle cell test. If you already have one you can bring it or fax it to 919-515-6056. If you do not have one - you can obtain one at a medical facility of your choice OR if you are a current student at NCSU - you can go to Student Health Services to request one for a "try-out". To do this you need to go to Medical Records on the first floor of Student Health Services and request a Sickle Cell Test. There will be a charge for this. You will be responsible for this charge. Ask the Lab to fax your results to the Athletic Training Room (515-6056). You will NOT be allowed to try out without the result of this test. These test results may take 3-4 days to be processed, so please plan accordingly.

    General Information:

    • All decisions are final and up to the discretion of the coaching staff who will be evaluating each applicant.
    • Please contact Head Cheer Coach - Harold Trammel at 919-625-0099 or harold_trammel@ncsu.edu if you have any questions.
