OXFORD, Miss. - NC State, led by freshman Dani Foster, who fired the highest score of all shooters of Friday, finished seventh at the Great American Rifle Conference Championships this weekend. The Wolfpack fired a score of 2273 in smallbore and 2282 in air rifle, for a combined score of 4555.
Foster, who has been selected to participate in the NCAA Championships, shot a score of 584 in air rifle, and 575 in smallbore. Foster had the highest standing score of all shooters in smallbore on Friday.
"Dani led us again with solid scores, including match best standing," said head coach Keith Miller. "Her experiences should help her when she heads to NCAAs in two weeks."
Madeline Pike fired a 572 in air rifle, and a 568 in smallbore. Both scores were the second-best on the team. Martha Hall shot a personal-best score of 565 in smallbore.
"As a team we're going to really focus on air rifle this week in preparation for the SEARC Championships," said Miller. "While we're in good shape and leading the league, we're simply not satisfied with our recent air rifle showings and want to end the season on a good note."
NC State will head to Charleston, S.C. for the SEARC Championships on Saturday, Mar. 3.
