No. 14 NC State Rifle Set for SEARC 5
Jan. 18, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - The 14th-ranked NC State rifle team will travel to Dahlonega, Ga., this Saturday, Jan. 19, for its last Southeastern Air Rifle Conference regular season meet of the 2012-13 campaign. The squad will shoot the air rifle portion of the meet on Saturday, before concluding the match with the smallbore competition on Sunday.
"We're glad to be heading back to a SEARC match this weekend," said head coach Keith Miller. "We hope to remain undefeated in this conference, so we have that extra pressure added."
The Wolfpack owns a perfect 9-0 record after sweeping the first two conference meets earlier this season. In the season opener at SEARC 1 on Sept. 29, NC State combined for a 4582 team total en route to a first place finish over The Citadel and North Georgia College.
The Pack replicated its performance at SEARC 2 on Sept. 20 with the same combined team score, moving NC State to a perfect 9-0 overall in league play on the season.
"This will be our second of three trips to North Georgia College this year," said Miller. "The next time we go to Dahlonega will be to face off against GARC rival Memphis, so we're trying to get very comfortable shooting on NGC's new electronic targets. They're a bit different from the ones we use at other matches, so the extra experience is nice."
Following this weekend's match, NC State's final SEARC meet will be the conference championships in Charleston, S.C., March 2.
