Rifle Falls at Newkirk Invitational
Cookeville, Tenn. - The NC State rifle team took fifth place at the Newkirk Invitational in Cookeville, Tenn. on Jan. 19 and 20. Murray State took top honors at the two-day event with 4,615 total points. The Pack shot a total of 4,451 points, with 2,233 in air-rifle and 2,218 in the smalbore event. The losses put the Pack to 5-10 on the season.
Jacksonville State took second place with a total of 4,601 points, but shot the highest air-rifle collective score of the day. Tennessee Tech was third (4,526 total) and Memphis edged out the Pack with a score of 4,511.
Samantha Bullard led the Pack in the air-rifle with a score of 562, and Noel Keck shot a 564 in smallbore for the team's highest in the event of the day.
The Wolfpack will head to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on North Georgia on Sat. Jan. 26 in the last match before the NCAA qualifiers.
