Wolfpack Readies for Weekend in Nebraska
Oct. 4, 2012
RALEIGH, N.C. - The 18th-ranked NC State rifle team will look to improve on its impressive start last weekend at SEARC 1 when it travels to Lincoln, Neb., for a pair head-to-head matches against Nebraska on Friday, Oct. 5 and Alaska-Fairbanks on Saturday, Oct. 6.
"While we had a good start last weekend at SEARC 1, this weekend is a challenge we've been really looking forward to," said head coach Keith Miller. "We'll start on Friday with our first GARC match of the year when we face Nebraska, then follow with our first ever match against Alaska-Fairbanks."
Last weekend, in Dahlonega, Ga., the Wolfpack recorded the second-highest team air rifle score in the program's history with a 2,317 total, led by graduate student Bryan Cross, who shot a career-high 583 in the competition. Junior Madeline Pike led all NC State shooters with an 1,148 total, while tying a personal-best with a 573 score in the smallbore competition.
"We hope to do well against both teams," Miller said. "Alaska has been a regular NCAA Championship team for many years."
Both matches will feature live scoring where fans can watch real time target results each day.
