Rifle Readies for SEARC 3
Oct. 19, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State rifle team will compete in the third South Eastern Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) match of the season on Saturday, Oct. 19 when it travels to Charleston, S.C. The Citadel will serve as host for the event with competition getting underway at 8 a.m. from the Inouye Marksmanship Center.
“We’re looking forward to shooting at The Citadel on Saturday,” said head coach Keith Miller. “It’s our first match there of the year, and we hope to get a good ranking score out of it.”
The Wolfpack (3-2, 3-0 SEARC) is coming off the program’s first trip to Alaska, in which the Pack competed against Ole Miss and the host Nanooks. Freshman Lucas Kozeniesky highlighted State’s performance last weekend by firing a 587 in the air rifle competition against Ole Miss on Friday and followed that with a strong performance in smallbore against Alaska, charting a match-high 583.
“We generally shoot well there, since it’s the range that we’re the most familiar with,” Miller added. “In the spring we’ll shoot our NCAA Qualifier there also, so each match at The Citadel’s range prior to that is an important part of our preparations and a confidence booster.”
