Hopkins Earns All-American Honors

NC State junior Hannah Hopkins placed seventh on the platform at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday, to garner All-American honors.

Jenny Keim Johansen embarks on her fourth year as the Pack's head diving coach in the 2011-12 season after joining the staff in August 2008. A two-time Olympian and former NCAA champion, she came to Raleigh after serving as the assistant diving coach at nearby Duke.

Keim Johansen certainly had a huge impact on the program during her first season in Raleigh, as Kristin Davies collected the first national championship in diving in school history by taking the platform dive crown at the NCAA Championships. Davies, an All-America and two-time All-ACC performer, was also named ACC Women's Diver of the Year and ACC Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2009.

In 2009-10, all four of the Wolfpack's divers were brought in by Keim Johansen, with Hannah Hopkins winning the ACC platform dive and earning All-ACC honors. Hopkins and Kirstyn Shepler both picked up all-conference hardware in the platform dive, while Hopkins was also named All-ACC in the 3-meter dive.

In 2010-11, all four of State's divers qualified for the NCAA diving zones.

Keim Johansen graduated cum laude with a B.A. in political science and a minor in criminology from Miami in 2002. While in Coral Gables she won the NCAA championship on the 3-meter board and platform in 1999 and 2000, and was a three-time All-America selection for the Hurricanes from 1998-2000. She was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.

She also represented the United States at the Olympics in both 1996 and 2000.

Prior to her tenure at Duke, Keim Johansen served as the head coach of Liberty Diving, a club team out of La Salle University where she was an assistant coach, from 2005-07. She has worked with several different diving academies and camps across varying capacities for many years.

Keim Johansen and her husband Drew are the proud parents of one daughter, Lina Mei.
