MONTREAL - NC State junior Brandon Kingston placed 11th in the 200 meter freestyle on Tuesday at the Canadian Olympic Trials, at the Olympic Park Sport Centre. The facility is the same pool that was used when Montreal hosted the 1976 Olympics.
Kingston was 17th in the 200 meter freestyle after the preliminary rounds, with a time of 1:52.47. He went on to post a time of 1:52.32 in the consolation finals to take third in his heat, and 11th overall.
"We are proud of Brandon's accomplishments at his country's trials," said assistant coach Stephen Thompson. "He had an impact year for our program at the ACC Championships, and he is continuing his success in Montreal.
"It is an honor for Brandon to be able to swim for a position on Canada's 2012 Olympic Team, and it is a privilege for us to have him representing the Wolfpack community proudly."
Kingston will return to action on Thursday in the 400 meter freestyle. He will also participate in the 1,500 meter freestyle, with preliminaries for that event being held on Friday, and finals on Saturday. Preliminaries are at 10 a.m. each day, and the finals are at 7 p.m.
