LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The NC State men's swimming team participated in an exhibition meet and training session with the University of Southern California Trojans on Friday. Three events took place, including the 400 medley, and 400 and 800 freestyle relays, all of which were unofficial and will not factor into the teams final point standings.
State had the opportunity to train in the pool early in the day on Friday, before being joined by USC's swim team. The afternoon session consisted of a training circuit, followed by the unofficial relays. The Pack won the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays, and finished second in the 800 freestyle, unofficially.
"It was a great day for the Wolfpack, we were enjoying some sunshine and getting the opportunity to train with a top team," said head coach Braden Holloway. "It was good to give our guys the chance to train and compete with some of the best swimmers on the west coast."
The diving aspect of the meet, was scored officially and the point totals from day one will be used in final totals on Saturday. USC leads the Pack after the first day, 20-18.
"The divers got us off to a good start heading into the official scoring part of the swim events tomorrow," said Holloway.
