    Final Results Get Acrobat Reader 

    DURHAM, N.C. - After an impressive home debut, the NC State swimming & diving team followed up that performance with another great showing in its first ACC meet of the season. The Wolfpack men's team downed Duke 178-117, while the women dropped Duke 181-113 and Miami 187-108. 

    "We started the day looking a little tired from yesterday, but we were able to overcome it and have some successful results," head coach Braden Holloway said."I was encouraged by the way the team competed today, knowing it was the first away ACC meet. I think we came in with a lot of intensity and passion, which allowed us to overcome being tired." 

    The Wolfpack grabbed the early lead on the day, finishing first in the 200 medley relay on the men's and women's side. 

    Kristin Connors once again displayed her skills in the distance events collecting first place finishes in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle. Connors completed the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:02.78 and the 1000 freestyle at 10:13.42. Christian McCurdy headlined the 1000 freestyle event for the Pack (9:31.76), while Brandon Kingston earned the top spot in the 500 freestyle (4:38.36).

    In the 100 backstroke, junior Zina Grogg claimed first, timing in at 55.93 seconds. Grogg also garnered the top spot in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.40 seconds. Julianna Prim finished second in the 100 butterfly (57.15), but swam the best time in the 200 butterfly (2:02.69). McCurdy (1:50.63), John Newell (1:51.21) and Austin Snyder (1:52.64) claimed the top three spots in the 200 butterfly event on the men's side. 

    Hannah Freyman and Mariah Hamil stopped the clock moments after each other in the 100 freestyle, as Freyman recorded the top time (50.96) and Hamil collected second (52.36). Ian Bishop and Kelsey Liu both collected second in the 200 breastroke event, with Bishop posting a time of 2:06.15, while Liu recorded a 2:20.71. 

    "We had a lot of great performances today," Holloway said. "A lot of close races and good competitions. I think it's a good way to end the first stretch of the season heading into the Nike Cup Invitational." 

    State dominated the competition in the men's 200 freestyle, collecting the top-three finishes. Jonathan Boffa stopped the clock first at 1:39.21, while Kingston (1:40.21) and Matt Thomas (1:40.28) placed second and third. Marifrances Henley completed the event with the fastest time for the women at 1:50.87. 

    The 200 backstroke event yielded great results for the men, as Ivan Kopas, Michael Camper and Stephen Coetzer finished first (1:47.21), second (1:50.85) and third (1:52.20). Kaitlin Mills registered the top time for the women at 2:05.84, collecting a second place finish.

    In diving, Hudson Rains owned the top spot in the 3-meter diving competition, posting a score 338.40. Senior Chris Arcara scored a 285, collecting third place. On the women's side, Hannah Hopkins finished second on the 3-meter diving board with a score of 298.45. Sophomore Rachael Mumma lead the way in the one-meter event for the Pack, finishing second (267.65). 

    The Wolfpack will return to action at the Nike Cup Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., Nov. 15-17.
