    CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - NC State's swimming and diving teams proved to be too much for its competition at the 2012 Janis Hape Dowd Nike Cup Invitational, as both teams went on to finish first. The men's team finished with a total of 1195.5 points, while the women concluded with 933. 

    The meet began with the 1650 freestyle event, as Kristin Connors ended with a time of 16:56.70, while Austin Snyder clocked in at 16:03.64. Connors' time was good for fifth and Snyder's was sixth. 

    Ivan Kopas and Michael Camper led the way for the Wolfpack in the 200 backstroke, finishing second and fifth with times of 1:47.06 and 1:48.94, respectively. 

    In the 100 freestyle, Jonathan Boffa finished just hundredths of a second shy of the top spot and settled for second at 44.05 seconds. Matt Thomas competed in the event posting a time of 45.30, which was good for sixth, and Simonas Bilis placed seventh with his time of 45.36. Hannah Freyman paced the Pack with a time of 50.96, while Marifrances Henley timed in at 51.06. 

    Kelsey Liu and Ian Bishop highlighted the Pack's performance in the 200 breaststroke, as Liu finished sixth (2:20.86) and Bishop posted a time of 2:04.81, also good for sixth. 

    The 200 butterfly event yielded three top-eight finishers for the Pack on the men's side as Miesfeld, Newell and McCurdy completed the event. Miesfeld was fifth (1:50.02), Newell placed sixth (1:50.77) and McCurdy eighth (1:50.96). Julianna Prim finished with a time of 2:04.50, also good for eighth. 

    In diving, Rachel Mumma anchored the top spot for the women, as she scored a 311.90 on the three-meter diving board. Hannah Hopkins registered a score of 307 en route to claiming third. For the men, Charles Retter finished third on the one-meter diving board with his score of 291.85. 

    The Wolfpack will return to action at the USA Swimming Nationals held in Austin, Texas, Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.
