RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State swimming and diving team will return to action Saturday, Jan. 14, against ACC rivals Florida State and Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. The meet will begin at 11 a.m., and will be held at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
The Wolfpack men (5-1, 2-1 ACC) will look to build on the early success that they have enjoyed under first-year head coach Braden Holloway. The team owns six NCAA B cuts, including three relays. Jonathan Boffa leads the team with five B-standards under his belt. He owns the ninth best time in the conference in the 50 freestyle, the fourth best in 100 free ( an NCAA B cut), and the third best mark in 200 free, also an NCAA B standard. Boffa has swam a leg on all three of the Wolfpack relays that own NCAA B cuts- the 200-, 400-, and 800-freestyle relays.
Barrett Miesfeld currently owns the top mark in the ACC in the 100 butterfly, 47.98, which is an NCAA B standard. Brandon Kingston has swam the ninth best time in the 1000 freestyle, as well as the eighth best time in the 1650 freestyle, while Ian Bishop owns the 10th best mark in the 100 breaststroke. Divers Hudson Rains and Ryan Smith have both qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones.
The NC State women currently stand at 6-2 (1-2 ACC). Kelsey Liu owns the tenth best mark in the 200 breaststroke. Julianna Prim has hit an NCAA B cut in the 200 butterfly (2:00.48). The women own the fifth-best time in the conference the 400-freestyle relay, which is also an NCAA B standard.
Hannah Hopkins owns the fifth best mark in the three-meter dive, as well as the top mark in the one-meter. Hopkins, Kirstyn Shepler, and Rachel Mumma have all qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones.
