RALEIGH, N.C. – Sophomore Christian McCurdy of the NC State men’s swimming & diving team was named the Men’s Division I National Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com, as announced by the publication on Wednesday.

McCurdy, a native of Irwin, Pa., helped the Wolfpack men’s squad post a victory against then-No. 20 Virginia on Saturday with a pair of individual victories. The sophomore cruised to victory with a time of 1:45.74 in the 200 butterfly, before earning a first place finish with a time of 3:50.58 in the 400 individual medley. His time in each event meets the required time standard for an NCAA ‘B’ cut.

In addition, the Wolfpack men’s squad improved to No. 20 in the updated College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll following its victory against Virginia last Saturday.

The 21st-ranked women's squad and men's divers will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to participate in the ACC Championships from Feb. 19-22. The men's squad will participate in the Men's ACC Championships from Feb. 26-March 1, also in Greensboro.
