Swimming Finishes Season With ACC Championships: The NC State women's swimming and diving team as well as the men's diving team will travel to Chapel Hill on Wednesday, February 14 to compete in the ACC Championships. The women's squad will head into the championships with a 3-7 record overall record. The men finished the regular season 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the ACC. The men's swimming team will compete in the ACC Championship Feb. 21-24 in Chapel Hill.
Whitson, Barwegen Top Wolfpack Times: The senior duo are a formidable pair in the pool as they combine to lead the team in all six of the freestyle events for the Wolfpack. Whitson is first in the 50 free (23.87), 100 free (51.91) and 200 free (1:51.81) while Barwegen leads the team in the 500 free (4:56.41), 1000 free (10:15.20) and 1650 free (16:59.26). In addition, Whitson is second to Barwegen in the 500 free (4:58.23) and Barwegen is third to Whitson in the 200 free (1:53.78). Barwegan also recorded the top time in the 200 fly this season against Clemson.
Hampton Dominate on 1 and 3-meter board: Sophmore Austin Hampton has been phenomenal this year for the Wolfpack. He holds the top score in both the 1 and 3-meter boards. In the 12 times that he has competed this year he has won 7 of those times. He also has 5 second place finishes this year and one third place finish. He ended the regular season against Clemson with wins in the 1 and 3-meter board.
Dason Top Performer in 100 Fly: Patrice Dason has had an impressive freshman year. In her first ever collegiate event she finished first in the 100 free. Ever since then she has improved in many different events, especially the 100 fly. She currently holds the top time for the wolfpack in the 100 fly. In the five times that she has competed in the event she has finished in the top-3 each time. In the final regular season meet against Clemson she won the 100 fly. She also has 13 top-5 times this season for the Wolfpack in four different events.
Cheffins Continues Strong Diving Performances: Emily Cheffins has shined in her first year of collegiate diving in both the 1 and 3-meter boards. During the regular season she won 2 events in the 1-meter board and also won 2 events in the 3-meter board. In the 14 times that she has competed in those events she has finished either first or second 8 times. She ended the regular season with the top scores in both of the events. She finished her strong freshman campaign by winning the 3-meter event against Clemson.
Freshman Duo Continue to Impress: The freshman combination of Anna Linkenauger and Jessica Stewart have performed quite well throughout the season. They have combined to post 5 top times this season for the Wolfpack in individual events.
Linkenauger has finished in the top-5 21 different times this season while competing in seven seperate events. That is five more top-5 finishes than any other swimmer this season. She holds the top times this season in the 200 back, 200 IM, and the 400 IM.
Stewart has been the top breaststroker this season for the Wolfpack. She has the top time in the 100 and 200 breast. In the last meet against Clemson she won the 200 breast.
Andrea-Davies Impressive in First Two Collegiate Meets: Kristen Andrea-Davies has made quite an impression after her first two meets. In her first collegiate meet against South Carolina she finished second in the 1-meter board. In her second career-meet she finished second in both the 1 and 3-meter boards for the Wolfpack.
