RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State swimmer Jonathan Boffa will compete in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash. The meet begins Thursday, March 22, and runs until Saturday, March 24.
Boffa will compete in the 50 freestyle on Thursday, with preliminaries beginning at noon, followed by the finals at 7 p.m. The 200 freestyle will be held on Friday, and the 100 freestyle will be contested on the final day of the meet. Both events and will follow the same schedule, with preliminaries being held at noon, and finals beginning at 7 p.m.
Boffa has the third-best mark in the 50 freestyle in school history (19.82). He trails only David Fox and Cullen Jones, both former Olympians.
The school record holder in the 100 freestyle, Boffa owns the 14th-best time in the event in the country. He swam a time of 43.05 at the Ohio State Last Ditch meet to break the school record and qualify for the championships.
Boffa has the second-best time in the 200 freestyle, 1:36.26, which he swam as a lead-off split of a relay at the ACC Championships this year.
