May 21, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State head swimming & diving coach Braden Holloway has announced the team captains for the men's and women's squads for the 2013-14 season.
"Congratulations to the group selected to lead the team in our continued movement forward," said Holloway. "They will look to combine in their efforts to be a voice for the team and a voice to the team. Of course, they are not alone as we have many leaders in and out of the pool for the Wolfpack."
Grogg, a native of Moon Township, Pa., posted the top time during the 2012-13 season for the Wolfpack women in the 100 backstroke (52.93) and 100 butterfly (53.50). Both of those times were also good for the school record. Liu owns the program record in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:14.18 clocking and also boasts a top-10 time in the 200 and 400 individual medleys.
Grim, the lone junior amongst the team captains, hailing from Allentown, Pa., notched the fourth-best time in program history in the 200 backstroke (1:59.21) and fifth-fastest in the 200 individual medley (2:03.98).
For the men, Bishop broke the school records in both the 100 breaststroke (53.27) and 200 breaststroke (1:58.23). The Austin, Texas native was the ACC Champion in the 100 breaststroke and an All-American. Thomas was also an All-American at the 2013 NCAA Championships as part of two relay teams: the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. He owns top-10 all-time marks in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events.
Litvinov posted the team's second-best time in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, just behind Bishop's time in those events. The Centerville, Ohio native owns the program's third-fastest time in the 200 breaststroke (1:59.14) and fourth-best in the 100 breaststroke (55.07).
